grouping, teams, fleets and ingame chain of command

frey and i have been discussing basic fleeting/teaming rules as pertain to st:o.
having flown with locutus/storvick/pesty and a few others already in st:o i feel that what we came up with will not only work well but seems to be what players are already gravitating to.
here is how it works as we imagine it.
players with team up in up to 6 player "squads". preference to slots is given to XC members, then XC affiliates, XC friends, then lastly random noobtards who want to fly with us ( just kidding on the noobtard thing).
highest ranking officer will be in command of the group and will call out targets for the squad to target. this is why use of teamspeak is essential and will be hopefully used by everyone flying with XC in st:o. team leader is also charged with the responsibility of forming the team ingame. this means that any groups you belong to will be dropped upon formation of the new team and the ranking officer with invite everyone to the new team. this give the ranking officer the ability to choose loot options discussed below.
people in the squad are always freely available to make suggestions to the ranking officer of the squad but he ranking officer has the final say on targets.
we have found that the same principle from sfb/sfc apply to st:o as well. you must take out the small stuff first, then move up the chain to the bigger stuff. we can get the fighters and destroyer escorts to chase us away from the cruisers/battleships/dreadnaughts so we can fight them later.
looting is still under discussion, but i imagine we will go with a similar method already in use in age of conan. if your character can use the item, then roll need, if you cannot use the item at all, then pass, greed will be used if you can give it to an alt or another member of the fleet. (remember we have a fleet bank so we may have the leader, or whoever has the most room take all extra items for banking later). under no circumstances are you to roll need if you cannot use the item. so far i have only seen items that bind on equip and not bind on pickup, but this is still beta and we may see them later. please remember that for bind on equip items, once you bind it (use it on your ship/ground character) you cannot trade it.
